ROBOTIC SYSTEMS

3D Bin Picking and Robotic Line Loading

3D bin picking is a robotic-cell approach that detects randomly positioned parts in bins or containers with a 3D camera, picks them with a robot and transfers them to the next station in a production line.

A feasibility study considers part geometry and surface, internal bin dimensions, part variation, target cycle, robot reach, end-effector selection, collision risk and cell safety together. These inputs are the basis for an applicable robotic picking and line-loading scenario.

Information needed for the technical assessment

  • Sample parts or current technical drawings
  • Internal bin or container dimensions and part presentation
  • Target cycle time and the delivery point on the line
  • Existing cell layout, safety and communication expectations
